Editing Tasks

You can edit tasks using any of the following methods:

Edit Directly in the Grid

  1. Double-click the cell you want to modify and update the value directly.

Edit Using the Task Information Form

You can open the Task Information form by:

  1. Double-clicking the task row
  2. Selecting the task and clicking Task Information on the toolbar
  3. Opening the Insert menu from the top menu bar and choosing Task Information

This form allows you to review and modify all task details in one place.

Delete Tasks

You can delete tasks using any of the following methods:

Using the Toolbar

  1. Select the task(s) you want to remove.
  2. Click the (–) icon on the toolbar.
  3. Confirm delete.

Using Keyboard Shortcut

  1. Select the task(s).
  2. Press Ctrl + Delete.

Using the Context Menu

  1. Right-click the task.
  2. Choose Delete. If there are linked tasks to the task you want to delete, Methvin will ask you for confirmation, “Are you sure you want to delete this task? This will also delete the associated link”.

Indent or Outdent Tasks

Projects often contain a structured hierarchy of summary tasks and subtasks. Indenting or outdenting helps you organise tasks into meaningful levels.

Ways to Adjust Task Levels

Using the Toolbar

  1. Select the task row
  2. Click Indent or Outdent.

Using Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Indent: Ctrl + Right Arrow
  • Outdent: Ctrl + Left Arrow Tip: The duration, start date, and finish date of a summary task are automatically based on its subtasks.

Cut, Copy, and Paste Tasks

You can reorganize your tasks using any of the following methods:

Using the Context Menu

  • Cut: Right-click the selected task(s) → Cut
  • Copy: Right-click the selected task(s) → Copy
  • Paste: Right-click below the row where you want the task(s) inserted → Paste

Using Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Cut: Ctrl + X
  • Copy: Ctrl + C
  • Paste: Ctrl + V

Using the Top Menu Bar

Open the Edit menu to access Cut, Copy, and Paste commands.
