Slack

Show Slack (Float) in Your Project

Slack represents the amount of time a task can be delayed without affecting the project end date. Tracking slack helps you optimize your schedule and allocate resources more effectively. By default, tasks with 0 days of slack are considered critical tasks. Delays in these tasks will delay the project’s finish date.

View Slack

  1. Click the Slack icon in the toolbar.
  2. Slack will appear as striped bars extending from tasks up to the point where the critical path begins.

Optimize Your Schedule Using Slack

To help ensure your project finishes on time:

  • Review tasks that have slack and are not on the critical path.
  • Delay tasks with free slack to free up resources for critical tasks.
  • Reassign resources strategically to prevent slippage in critical activities. Keep in Mind
  • Slack (float) helps you manage flexibility in your schedule.
  • Critical path shows the tasks that determine your project end date.
  • Together, they help you make smarter scheduling decisions.
