Job Costing User GuideQuote AppIntroduction

1. Introduction

1.1 What the Quote App Does

The Quote app turns a priced estimate, or a job cost progress payment, into a polished, client-ready document. It sits alongside your Estimate and Job Costing apps and reads its pricing directly from them, so nothing needs to be re-entered. From one screen you can choose how the pricing is broken down, write and toggle the commercial content the client sees, control the financial summary, fine-tune the pricing table’s columns and styling, reorder or hide whole sections of the document, preview it exactly as the client will see it, and export or share the finished quote — all without leaving the app.

1.2 Who Should Read This Guide

• Estimators and project managers preparing a client-facing bid or proposal from a priced estimate. • Quantity surveyors and contracts administrators issuing progress payment claims from Job Costing. • Anyone responsible for a company’s quote formatting, branding, or standard terms and conditions. • Office administrators who attach client contacts to a quote and send it on the estimator’s behalf.

1.3 How to Use This Guide

If you are building your first quote, start with Section 2 to get oriented, then work through Section 3, Section 4 and Section 5 in order — reading the screen, writing the commercial content, and choosing the pricing layout and table formatting — before moving to Section 6 to export or share the finished document. Sections 7 (Common Workflows), 8 (Best Practices), 9 (Troubleshooting) and 10 (FAQ) are there for reference as questions come up.

💡 Tip

Look for the coloured callout boxes throughout this guide. Tips offer shortcuts and good habits, Important notes flag things that affect what the client sees, and Notes provide helpful background.
