9. Troubleshooting
9.1 Common Issues
Symptom | Likely Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
A section I toggled on in Commercials isn’t showing on the quote. | The section has also been hidden in Section Order, which overrides the Commercials toggle. | Open Section Order and check the eye icon next to that section — a crossed-out eye means it’s hidden regardless of the Commercials setting. |
Scope of Work, Inclusions or Exclusions still shows placeholder text in the PDF. | The field is toggled on but nothing has been typed into it yet. | Click into the field in HTML view and add your text — the placeholder (“add scope of work here”) is not sent as content, but an empty section can look unfinished to a client. |
The pricing table runs off the edge of the page in PDF view. | The combined column widths in Table Columns are too wide for a portrait page. | Reduce individual column widths in Table Columns, or switch on Landscape in Options. |
A client’s name and email aren’t appearing in the quote header. | No client has been attached to the quote yet. | Click Clients or the client icon in the header, then tick the correct contact in the Contact List. |
A contact I need isn’t in the Contact List. | The contact hasn’t been added to Methvin yet. | Click Add Contact in the Contact List and enter their details, or use Create Contact List to build a reusable group. |
The Design layout I want (for example Lump Sum) doesn’t seem to change anything. | A different Design toggle, such as Full Schedule, is still switched on and is taking priority in the preview. | Check the other Design toggles and switch off any that conflict with the layout you’re trying to show. |
Current Claim or Progress claim summary aren’t available in Design. | The quote is in Estimate view rather than Job Cost view. | Switch the Estimate / Job Cost toggle at the top of the preview to Job Cost. |
I ticked and unticked items in Edit Content but the quote hasn’t changed. | The quote is still in editing mode — changes are applied when editing is finished. | Click Done Editing at the end of the edit, then check the preview or PDF view. |
I can’t untick the Description column. | Description has no tick box, because it fills the remaining table width automatically. | Leave Description on the quote and hide or narrow the other columns instead. |
A header detail I wanted removed still appears on the quote. | Its tick box is still ticked in Edit Content. | Click Edit Content, untick the box beside that item, and click Done Editing. |
The BOQ colours didn’t change after I picked a different Style Preset. | The change hasn’t been applied yet, or Show Styles is switched off in Options. | Click Update in Preferences, and check that Show Styles is on in Options. |
Dates or numbers appear in a different format than I expected. | Date Format or Number Format in Preferences is set to a different format. | Open Preferences, choose the format you want on the Common tab, and click Update. |
9.2 Getting Further Help
If you cannot resolve an issue using this guide, contact your project administrator first — many issues are project-configuration related, such as a missing contact or an unattached client, and can be resolved quickly. For application errors or behaviour that doesn’t match this guide, contact support through the help link in the application or via your organisation’s support process.
